If you will look closely, you will see that I said we moved - actually from another country - which is why we actually left that particular church.

The teaching was on multiple sins of our nation, of which the pastor was in agreement with all on the list EXCEPT the one about wives obeying their husbands.

Thank you for giving me an opportunity to clarify that.Jen Fishburnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08240505611077771944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22977090.post-52844372978222228752006-12-07T13:25:00.000-06:002006-12-07T13:25:00.000-06:00Jen,

To say God is judging America because wives dont submit to their husbands is beyond revelation that you have. Please show me where in the Bible that God says he will judge non-covenanted nations for this action and you might be on to something, otherwise your stretching the Bible in some weird ways. Why not say GOd is judging America because husbands dont love their wives? Or because we lie? Or because we watch too much TV or kill babies or are lazy or....you get the picture, it is unrevealed as to why God judges any people outside the Bible...to say you know why goes beyond what you actually know.

Unless you simply want to say, all sin leads to some form of judgment...but then again things that look like judgment arent always caused by the persons sin (John 9, Job) so even that you cant know apart from revelation.

2. What does it mean to have "life verses" shouldnt we hold all the Bible as needed for "life" and not pick some as "special" thereby defacto saying others are so "special"?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22977090.post-25489199011988221482006-10-29T15:35:00.000-06:002006-10-29T15:35:00.000-06:00One of my life verses is John 14:15 where Jesus sa...One of my life verses is John 14:15 where Jesus says, "If you love Me, keep My commandments."Jen Fishburnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08240505611077771944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22977090.post-74623426405205733652006-10-29T02:39:00.000-06:002006-10-29T02:39:00.000-06:00Although doctrinal issues are important you are a ...Although doctrinal issues are important you are a Pastor's nightmare!Something about splinters and planks comes to mind!
Try just loving God for who He is rather than what He asks us to do!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22977090.post-1156197915930780062006-08-21T17:05:00.000-05:002006-08-21T17:05:00.000-05:00I have to agree with Jen W. Another problem that arises far too often is the judgment issue. Just because someone believes in obeying ALL of God's commands to Christians does not make him or her judgmental--it makes him or her OBEDIENT. Unfortunately, however, even obedience can be perverted by some in the church.

Great post, BTW. You are able to succinctly state the relevant issues in each of the four (4) instances you listed.Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00509977345844204774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22977090.post-1156191711425968692006-08-21T15:21:00.000-05:002006-08-21T15:21:00.000-05:00It is very sad that friends are divided on doctrin...It is very sad that friends are divided on doctrinal issues. Seems to me that we can learn to get along as friends, and as brothers and sisters in Christ, without agreeing on everything. It's sad to say, but I think heathens get along better than most Christians. Many issues that end up dividing us are those of maturity issues--what we eat, what we wear, etc. The fact is that God deals with people about different things, and at different times. Let's look past all that, and encourage one another toward love and good deeds.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
